WE ARE HERE TO HELP.

We strongly recommend using a tick removal tool instead of tweezers whenever possible. Our tick removal kits are specifically designed to safely remove ticks without crushing or damaging them, which can prevent the release of Lyme bacteria into your bloodstream.

Steps for Safe Tick Removal:

  1. Select the appropriate hook based on the size of the tick.
  2. Approach the tick from the side with the hook until it is securely held.
  3. Gently lift and rotate the hook. The tick will detach after 2-3 rotations.

The goal is to remove the tick quickly, ensuring all parts are removed while preventing saliva or stomach contents from entering the bite wound.

Best Practices for Tick Removal:

  • DO clean the tool with antiseptic before and after use, and wash your hands thoroughly.
  • DO store the tick in a labeled container for medical evaluation if needed.
  • DO NOT squeeze, crush, or use fingernails to remove the tick, as this can lead to further infection or leave the head embedded in your skin.
  • DO NOT apply chemicals like petroleum jelly, nail polish, or try to burn the tick, as these methods may cause it to release harmful bacteria.

Using Tweezers: If a tick removal tool isn’t available, use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible. Pull upward with steady pressure without twisting or jerking. After removal, clean the bite area and hands thoroughly with rubbing alcohol, iodine, or soap and water.
