With COVID restrictions easing and mandates lifting across most of Canada, businesses and the public are looking forward to returning to pre-pandemic normal. As we remain cautiously optimistic that we are entering an endemic, we need to recognize that the virus is still active and transmission rates remain high. As schools re-open, restrictions ease and masks are removed in public settings we will most likely see an uptick in the spread of more common viruses and bugs. That’s why it’s important to continue to stay diligent and maintain best practices and proper hand washing and sanitization.
Because people have been isolated for so long, it’s going to be easier to catch colds once everyone jumps back into “normal,” mask-less routines.

According to the CDC, “Keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others… You should wash your hands after going to the restroom; after handling garbage, animals, or children, especially if handling a child’s diaper; before and after you eat, care for someone who is sick, or handle a wound or cut; and before, during, and after cooking and handling food generally. Practicing safe handwashing like this can help keep you free of not only COVID-19 but also many other viruses, bacteria, and flus. At the very least, both now and post-pandemic, you should use hand sanitizer more to ensure your safety.”
Hand Sanitizers have flooded the market since the start of the pandemic and we all know too well the slimy, smelly, runny liquids that now greet us at every store and building entrance. Most of these products contain alcohol, have an unpleasant odor, and leave the skin dry and cracked if used regularly. Because of these issues, people are now going out of their way to avoid using hand sanitizers which defeats the whole purpose.
At Dentec Safety we always recommend using soap and water to ensure proper hand sanitization but when that’s not option, use X3: Clean Germ Attack Hand Sanitizer and here’s why:
Alcohol Free, Fragrance Free
95% of hand sanitizers on the market are alcohol based and there is a major misconception that ONLY alcohol kills germs and that’s 100% false. According to X3 President Bob Davies,
“the main reason that the CDC publishes the recommendation that you need 60% ALCOHOL or higher to protect against germs/ COVID is because it is simple and easy to communicate to the general public. The more ingredients that are listed the harder it is to communicate.”
Bottom line, there are a number of germ-killing active ingredients that are NOT alcohol. The EPA and Health Canada produce significant product lists that kill COVID containing BZK, a quaternary ammonium compound. Almost all your surface disinfects, whether its home or hospitals, are non-alcohol based.
X3: Clean Kills 99.9% of germs
Benzalkonium chloride (BZK), which is part of the family of the quaternary ammonium compounds, is the active ingredient in X3. Numerous studies have proven that BZK kills 99.9% of germs , including Covid, making it equal to or better than alcohol-based formulas.
“There’s a better hand sanitizer for COVID-19. Why aren’t we using It?” asks Fast Company Magazine (12/03/2020)
Alcohol, 60% concentration. That’s what your hand sanitizer needs to reliably kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus, according to the CDC. But new research out of BYU, published in the Journal of Hospital Infection, challenges this notion. It found that three commercial disinfectants—used in many hand sanitizers and surface wipes as alternatives to alcohol—kill the virus effectively. Most crucially, it found that a chemical known as benzalkonium chloride (BKC) reliably kills SARSCoV-2. If the FDA and CDC embrace these findings, hand sanitizers could be cheaper, more enjoyable to use, and finally be plentiful on store shelves.
