Why Use Neutraliser

A-Med

ANSI Z358.1-09 • Emergency Eye/Shower Standard

  • SDS sheets dictate the requirement to flush an effected area for a minimum of 15 minutes of continues flow of water.
  • The eye/shower system must be located within an unimpeded 10 second walk or 55 feet from the hazard or immediately adjacent to strong alkali/base or acid.
  • The user must be able to activate the unit within 1 second and using a single hand operation.
  • Eyewash bottles do not meet the ANSI Z358.1 and they should not be used in place of these requirements.

How Does An Eyewash Bottle Program Compliment Your Emergency Eye/Shower Systems?

Neutraliser™ Recommended Use

  • When seconds count, a 10 second walk to the emergency eye/shower system will cause irreparable damage to the contaminated body part.
  • Most companies do not place an emergency eye/shower system immediately adjacent to the alkali/base or acid as required by ANSI Z358.1 standard.
  • Neutraliser™.
    • Is intended to supplement emergency eye/shower systems.
    • The versatility allows the product to be placed with the individual or in close proximity.
    • Neutralizes the chemical agent immediately.

Neutraliser™ Quality You Can See!©

  • 70% of "Lost time" eye injuries occur at work, 30% at home.
  • 54.5% eye injuries caused by chemical burns*.
    *National Safety Council 2011

How Chemicals Burn

  • Normal pH level:
    • Eye - between 7.2 to 7.4.
    • Skin - between 4.5 to 6.0.
  • Acids and Alkali cause the pH level of the body to either increase or decrease above or below the normal range.
  • The pH range of all chemical compounds is 1 to 14.
  • A pH of 7 is neutral and will not cause damage to the body.
  • As the pH level moves to either 1 or 14, the risk of injury to the body increases because the chemical burn intensifies.
  • Acids will lower the pH level towards 1.
  • Alkalis/base will raise the pH level towards 14.
  • Example:
    • Acids will lower the pH level of the body. This will cause a burning sensation and damage.
    • Alkalis/base will raise the pH level of the body. Again causing a burning sensation and damage.
  • Normal pH level:
    • Eye - between 7.2 to 7.4.
    • Skin - between 4.5 to 6.0.

When Seconds Count!

  • Neutraliser™ provides instant relief from a caustic burn to the eyes and skin with this multi-purpose formula (high buffer capacity agents, isotonic and saline).
  • Immediate neutralizing counter-action to normalize the pH value is not possible with just a sterile saline rinse (0.9% sodium chloride).

Our Formula

    • Sodium phosphate monobasic neutralizes acids.
    • Sodium phosphate dibasic neutralizes alkali/base.
    • Sodium hydroxide acts as a pH adjuster.
  • Isotonic; Physiologically similar to liquids within the eye.
    • Non intrusive to the eye. Will not negatively impact the eye.
  • Saline (Sodium Chloride); Safely flushes the eye and wound site.
  • Sterile Solution; Ensures purity. No micro-organisms.
  • Polyhexanide; Kills germs - Especially in the eye.
    • Antiseptic to prevent further infection.
  • Disodium EDTA;
    • Preservative to ensure sterility for 3 years.
    • Required by FDA regulations.
